Meaningful Workshops:
Membership provides music teachers with access to workshops which focus on the process and
materials used in the Orff Schulwerk approach with an elementary and middle school focus.

Reduced Workshop Fees:
Members may register for the entire package of membership and workshops for a significant discount. They may also attend other area Orff Chapter workshops for reduced fees.

Networking Opportunities:
Membership also provides opportunities to network with other WMOC members through the use of
Google Drive. A shared Dropbox folder allows chapter members to share lesson plans, substitute lesson
plans, great websites, and music technology applications..

Scholarships:
Through various fund raisers, the Chapter supports a Scholarship fund which can be used for professional development with the Orff philosophy in mind—including, but not limited to Levels Training

Membership in the National Organization:
Through membership in the national organization, American Orff-Schulwerk Association (AOSA),
teachers receive a quarterly journal, The Orff Echo and the newsletter, Reverberations. National
membership also provides access to other local workshops and to the national conference held in

Mentoring:
The chapter has a mentoring program which will provide support and guidance to teachers who are
interested in the Orff philosophy. Retired (from public school teaching) music educator, Marcia Working
is a long-time member of our WMOC. She has served as an officer in all capacities during her time on the
board. She is Orff certified having completed all three levels of training.
Mentoring Assistance may include, but are not limited to:

- Discussing any questions or issues you may have in your classroom for implementing the “Sing-Say-Play-Create” philosophy of the Orff Schulwerk
- Answering thee question of what the Orff process look like in action?
- Offering insight and suggestions for differentiated instruction
- Bringing quality literature to your students by giving recommendations and lesson ideas
- Acting as a sounding board to help you develop a lesson or program idea
- Helping to integrate cross-curricular lessons that don’t compromise your music instruction
- Offering ideas for student evaluation
- Visiting your classroom either as an observer or as a guest teaching artist. (No charge if you are in Kalamazoo county. Outside of the county costs may include gas money and/or lunch.
