SING, DANCE, AND PLAY
Carl Orff and Gunild Keetman developed Orff Schulwerk as an approach to teaching music and movement. Orff Schulwerk came to the United States by way of Canada through Margaret Murray. Murray is also responsible for the English language version of Orff and Keetman’s Music for Children. Orff Schulwerk teachers established the West Michigan chapter in 1976.

Orff Schulwerk is an approach to teaching music and movement that emphasizes students' natural instincts to play and explore elements of music. Orff Schulwerk students actively learn through singing, rhythmic speech, movement, and playing instruments.
